I was craving a raw treat with coconut and turmeric a few days ago, so decided to honor my body and make these delicious and nutritious chocolate chip golden fat balls. They’re dairy-free, gluten-free, grain-free, Paleo, and vegan and super easy to make.
All you need is 8 wholesome ingredients that you probably already have in the pantry including coconut flakes, cashews or any other nuts or seeds, nut/seed butter, dates, turmeric, ginger, and cinnamon. There is no baking involved either! Just throw everything into a food processor and pulse until you get a sticky crumbly dough.
Turmeric and ginger are among the most powerful anti-inflammatory foods and add a delightful zesty kick to these treats. I love using cashews and cashew butter that have a mildly sweet flavor and pair well with these spices. However, if you don’t have any available, feel free to substitute them with other nuts or seeds such as almonds, walnuts, pecans, pistachios, sunflower, or pumpkin seeds.
Instead of chocolate chips, I prefer to use raw cacao nibs for several reasons: They’re raw, less processed, and more nutrient-dense compared to chocolate chips. Also, they contain no added sugar but have a strong cacao flavor that can satisfy chocolate cravings–especially when paired with other sweet ingredients. Moreover, raw cacao nibs are a good source of disease-fighting antioxidants and minerals like iron and magnesium.
Hope you try and enjoy these tasty chocolate chip golden fat balls that are loaded with all the good stuff that make you glow from the inside out! Leave a comment below if you try them or tag me in your photos @nutriholist #nutriholist on Instagram and Facebook. XO
