I love to start the day with a thick, creamy and delicious green smoothie! It fuels me up with energy and keeps me going till noon without getting hungry. And it’s not just me! I hear that from my clients ALL the time. Not only would a nutrient-packed smoothie make you glow from the inside out, but it also sets the tone for the rest of the day, helping you make healthier, more conscious choices for your other meals as well.

If you have all ingredients prepped and clean in the fridge, you really won’t need more than 5-10 minutes to make a nutrient-dense smoothie. Throw everything in the blender, blend, pour in a mason jar and you’ve got yourself breakfast on-the-go! No more excuses for skipping breakfast, really 😉

You just have to make sure your smoothies are balanced in terms of macro-nutrients, containing proteins and good fats as well as carbs. I’d like to add a few of the following superfoods into my smoothies in addition to the veggies and fruits to achieve that. Some of my favorite superfoods include hemp hearts, chia seeds, ground flax seeds, spirulina, wheat grass powder, collagen powder, bee pollen, coconut oil, coconut butter, raw nuts and seeds (preferably soaked overnight) or nut/seed butters.

Mango-liscious Green Smoothie Bowl Recipe

Serves 2

Ingredients

  • 2 cups kale leaves
  • 2 stalks celery, cut into smaller chunks
  • 2 small cucumbers, cut into chunks
  • 1 cup yogurt (could use plant-based for a vegan version)
  • 1-inch piece ginger root
  • 1 large mango, peeled and roughly chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon ground flax seeds
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1 tablespoon hemp hearts
  • Toppings: crab apples, blueberries, blackberries, mango and fig slices

Directions

  1. Blend kale, celery, cucumbers and yogurt together first until smooth
  2. Add the remaining ingredients and blend again to reach the desired consistency. Feel free to add some water if you prefer a thinner texture
  3. Garnish with your desired toppings and enjoy!
