Soft, chewy, decadent… but best of all healthy.

That’s how I would describe these little bites of heaven that are guaranteed to satisfy the strongest chocolate cravings!

Chocolate cravings often stem from hormonal imbalances and deficiency in magnesium. Raw cacao is one of the top 10 sources of magnesium and is also high in disease-fighting antioxidants. It can affect the brain, promoting neurotransmitter activity, dopamine production, and a feeling of happiness. This combination makes it especially desirable during periods of hormonal imbalance such as menstruation and pregnancy. However, grabbing a chocolate bar high in sugar, additives, and processed cocoa can do more harm than good. Make sure to go for raw high-quality Fair Trade dark chocolate from a trusted source with minimal sugar or better yet make your own!

Some of my personal favorites are these simple dark chocolate barks with pistachios or other nuts/seeds/fruits of choice, chocolate peanut butter cups, raspberry dark chocolate cups, or these avocado dark chocolate truffles if you’re feeling like something creamier and more decadent.

Chocolate Avocado Truffles - Nutriholist

Avocado contributes to the rich velvety texture and also significantly bumps up the nutritional profile without affecting the taste so much. It provides a variety of nutrients such as B vitamins (all except B12), vitamins K, E, C, fiber, copper, potassium, a wide range of phytonutrients, and monounsaturated fatty acids. The presence of fats in avocado can dramatically increase the absorption of phytonutrients like carotenoids to about 2-6 times compared to low-fat sources such as carrots, sweet potatoes, and leafy greens (1).
